Roy began his career in 1989 with Interstate Securities in his hometown of Sumter, SC. Through many mergers and acquisitions, he was chosen to manage the Wells Fargo Advisors office in Sumter in 2007. Roy graduated from the Citadel with his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1987 with an emphasis in Finance. His practice consists of providing wealth solutions and retirement advice to successful individuals, families, and businesses.
In 2014, he was appointed, by the firm, as a member of Platinum Council and a Platinum Council Manager (previously Premier Manager) in 2015. The Platinum Council (previously known as Premier Advisor) distinction is held by a select group of Financial Advisors within the firm as measured by completion of educational components, business production, based on the past year, and professionalism. Additional criteria, best practices and team structure, may also be used to determine recipients. The Platinum Council Manager distinction is held by a select group of Managers at Wells Fargo Advisors and reflects a superior level of professional achievement and a steadfast commitment to achieving business objectives. In addition, Roy and his team were selected to the Forbes Best-in-State Wealth Management Teams in 2023.
Roy is an avid runner and outdoorsman. He and his wife, Meg, reside in Sumter and have three boys (William, Layton, and Thomas). His family attends and are very active at Trinity United Methodist Church, where he currently serves as on the Board of Trustees.
Roy has served his community as past chair of the Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club. He is active in Kiwanis and has served as a past board member and President of the organization. He recently received the “Legend of Honor” award for 25 years of service. Also, Roy has shown dedicated service to the YMCA for over 14 years as a board member and as Chairman. He was named the Humanitarian of the Year in 2014. He is currently serving as Vice Chairman on the Prisma Health Midlands Board and Chairman of The Tuomey Foundation. He is also serving as the 2023/2024 American Heart Association Heart Walk Chairman.

Background & Experience
I graduated from Clemson University in 1983 earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Administrative Management.
I began my career in 1987 with A.G. Edwards & Sons. From 1993 to October of 2000, I served as the assistant Branch Manager. A.G. Edwards & Sons eventually became Wells Fargo Advisors through many mergers and acquisitions.
In 2000, when I was approached by Merrill Lynch to open their office in Sumter, I joined as an Associate Resident Director and Branch Manager. In May of 2014, I joined Wells Fargo Advisors as a Managing Director of Investments. I was named to the Wells Fargo Advisors Platinum Council 2014-2022 and as a Wells Fargo Advisors Platinum Council Manager 2015-2022. Away From The Office
A native of Sumter, my wife, Caren, and I have three sons: Hughes, Reid, and Grier. I enjoy spending time with my grandchildren Preston, Ellis, and Tribble. Walking, golf, fishing are my hobbies when I have free time. Committed to helping my community prosper, I have served on the YMCA Board, including chair of the board in 2017, and have also served on the Board of Directors at Wilson Hall. In addition, my family and I are active members of Trinity United Methodist Church.
