Get To Know Garret

Gary has been a local resident of Virginia Beach since he was 7 years old. Growing up in a Navy family, he always found a way to help out around the neighborhood, from handling the local newspaper delivery or mowing lawns for some local residents.

He graduated from Old Dominion University and started working right away at a local bank, working in Norfolk, Portsmouth, Virginia Beach and Chesapeake, advancing to Senior Vice President within the Commercial Lending Division of Central Fidelity Bank. In early 1993, after spending nine years in Banking, he joined Kidder Peabody in New York City, where his investment career began. In 1998, he joined his current firm here in Virginia Beach. He then went on to receive his Certified Investment Management Analyst accreditation through the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Finance and Commerce in May 2002.

As an established professional in his field, he currently is working with executives and their families. In addition, he has extensive experience in defined-benefit and defined-contribution programs, including 401(k) and profit sharing plans. Gary also works as the investment consultant for several large pension funds for which he performs investment manager due diligence, asset allocation analysis, and performance attribution.

Gary's community service goes well beyond his work as Managing Director. In addition to sitting on the Board of Directors for Old Dominion University's Education Foundation, he serves as Treasurer of the Tidewater Children's Foundation. He resides in Virginia Beach with his wife Bernadette. In his free time Gary enjoys fishing, golf, tennis and live music concerts.
