My background

There were two formative events in my youth that led me to study investment planning. The first was finding out that I enjoyed math and working with numbers while in high school, and the second was struggling to finance my college education while working numerous jobs. I wished to be able to help families successfully plan for their financial needs while avoiding the pitfalls that I experienced in my own family.

My focus

Completing my degree in Finance from San Diego State University led me directly to assisting clients with their finances in 1988. I continued to practice in San Diego until my wife and I decided to return to the East coast to be closer to our families, moving to the Raleigh area in 1999. Recognizing that without a roadmap, any road seems like the best road to take, I completed additional studies, earning the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner designation, and our team uses a planning-centric approach to drive our client’s implementations. To further enhance the services that we bring our clients, Jack and I formed the Bartol Hoile Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors.

Away from the office

Some may joke that someday I will find out what this means, but I do get out of the office. My wife, Sue, and I have been married 36 years. We have two daughters; Karleen has obtained her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from East Carolina University and married in 2021. They are expecting their first child in July.  Olivia has completed her MBA, also attending ECU, and is working in Charlotte. While I no longer play contact sports, I enjoy golfing and the occasional 10K. In addition, I enjoy keeping our yard in shape, rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers and SDSU. Our family attends Saint Mary Magdalene in Apex.

My background

From an early age history, politics, economics, and finance held my attention and interest. These interests eventually led me to pursue my Master’s Degree in International Economics & US Foreign Policy at The George Washington University. My academic background led to my career as a Financial Advisor helping people navigate today’s global investment environment. My financial services career began in 1999 and after spending almost 20 years with my first firm, I joined Wells Fargo Advisors in 2017 to enhance my ability to help my clients achieve their financial goals.

My focus

My primary focus for the Bartol Hoile Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors is to design investment plans to match our client’s holistic objectives.  My focus is to build well-diversified, low-cost portfolios that aim to deliver results and reduce the chances our clients fall short of their accumulation goals, income targets and/or wealth transfer needs.

Away from the office

My wife, Pamela, and I have two adult children. Our daughter, Rosie, is a secondary school teacher in London.  Our son, Isiah, graduated with a BA in Sports Journalism in June 2023 from Solent University in Southampton, England doing freelance work and is a budding entrepreneur with a NC winery. As a lifelong soccer player, referee, coach & fan, I continue to play in local adult soccer leagues. Bartol Hoile is a corporate sponsor of the NC Courage, the local professional women’s soccer team. My wife and I love to travel and explore new cultures and look forward to many future adventures across the US & abroad.

My background

I bring over 30 years of experience in the financial services business to the Bartol Hoile Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors. I began my career with Fleet Bank (now Bank of America), working as an assistant branch manager for over 10 years, before transitioning to Wells Fargo Bank. At Wells Fargo Bank, I assisted affluent clients as a Registered Personal Banker II. That role taught me to work with clients, uncovering their specific financial needs and offering solutions to help them accomplish their goals. In 2016, I accepted an opportunity to work at Wells Fargo Advisors supporting Financial Advisors and their clients with their overall investment planning.

My focus

My primary focus for The Bartol Hoile Wealth Management Group is to execute all account servicing requests, cash management needs, and similar operational account tasks. As a registered associate and insurance professional, I provide critical continuity of service so that clients always have a dedicated team member to handle service requests.

Away from the office

I relocated to North Carolina from New Jersey 17 years ago and enjoy returning to visit with family and friends. I am an avid animal lover and have a Golden Doodle named Doodle. I enjoy cooking, reading, crafts, and traveling.  I also participate in monthly Bunco and Mah-jongg activities.
