James Breen, CPWA, CMFC

Financial Advisor

Jim Breen, Private Wealth Financial Advisor, has over 34 years of experience in the financial services industry. Before joining Prudential Securities (a predecessor firm of Wells Fargo Advisors) in 1992, Jim spent 11 years on active duty in the US Army as an Infantry officer, and later as a Finance officer. Jim earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the United States Military Academy at West Point. 

As a Private Wealth Financial Advisor and Managing Director-Investments of the Breen-Steinberg Private Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors, Jim is committed to helping clients meet their financial needs though retirement planning, education savings, and preservation and transfer of wealth.

Jim's mission is to help each one of his clients plan for a financial future in a way that best meets his or her goals. He does this using his considerable experience and education in the financial services sector.

Jim earned the Certified Private Wealth Advisor CPWA® and the Chartered Mutual Fund Counselor CMFC® designation.  In 2025 and 2026, the Breen-Steinberg Private Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors has been named Forbes Best-in-State Wealth Management Teams.  Jim was also awarded the Spirit Award in 2015, the highest honor recognized by Wells Fargo Advisors, for lifetime achievement, both personal and professional.  From 2006-2024, Jim has been selected as a Platinum Council Advisor of Wells Fargo Advisors and a “Five Star Wealth Manager Award recipient beginning in 2022 thru and including 2026 as seen in Texas Monthly Magazine.   

Jim is a member of numerous civic and community service organizations to include: Disabled American Veterans, Congresswoman Kay Granger's Military Academy Nomination Committee, the West Point Society of North Texas, Cassata Catholic High School Advisory Council, the Knights of Columbus, and is founder of The Stephen Breen Memorial Foundation, created in memory of his son, Stephen, who died from cancer at the age of 15.

Jim enjoys spending time with his wife, Kathy, their three grown children, and eight grand-children. He enjoys reading, being outdoors, and traveling.
