Institutional and Retirement Plan Services

We specialize in working with corporate and institutional clients who require an expert advisor to assist them in fulfilling their fiduciary duties. Our expertise is recognized by Wells Fargo Advisors and allows us to serve clients as a 3(21) Investment Advisor* to our institutional clients. Click the categories below for more information on the services we offer.
Investment Policy.png

We draw from the tools and resources of Wells Fargo Advisors, which enables us to work with our clients to develop and maintain an investment policy that reflects your institution’s mission.
Asset Allocation.png

Your optimal asset allocation is aimed at reflecting your institution’s risk profile, spending needs, and ability to capitalize on future economic trends. We utilize the proprietary work of the Wells Fargo Investment Institute (WFII), which helps us develop our capital market assumptions and provides strategic views on the economy and capital markets.

*Asset allocation and diversification are investment methods used to help manage risk. They do not guarantee investment returns or eliminate risk of loss including in a declining market. Wells Fargo Investment Institute, Inc. is a registered investment adviser and wholly-owned subsidiary of Wells Fargo Bank, N.A., a bank affiliate of Wells Fargo & Company.
Diversification Review.png

Our team provides a diversification review designed to identify particular asset classes that we feel should be included in your plan’s list of investment options made available to participants based on your institution’s investment policy statement. After our review, we may recommend additional asset classes to complement the plan’s existing options.
Plan Committee Service.png

We provide summary reports and statistical updates to your institution’s plan committee. This communication may include:
  • Participation level
  • Demographic reports
  • Review of goals and results of education policy statement
  • Updates on participant meetings
  • Regulatory updates
Investment Policy.png

We have found that most research on investment managers is strictly quantitative. But we believe that the real value lies in the research on the qualitative issues. Our goal is to identify managers that are compatible with your needs and objectives, which means that we need more than the numbers. We aim to learn as much as we can about the person and if they will fit well with your institution’s culture and goals.
performance review NEW.png

On a scheduled basis, a performance report is prepared that provides your investment committee with information needed to fulfill its fiduciary duty – to review investment performance relative to the objectives determined in the investment policy. We specially design our reports so that your committee can evaluate:
  • Investment performance
  • Investment policy compliance
Plan Fees and Service Benchmarking.png

Plan benchmarking reports help identify and compare specific plan design elements such as:
  • Plan features
  • Investment-related information
  • Participant behaviors
  • Plan oversight/plan-related fees with other plans in similar industries
  • Plan size and/or demographics
Reports are prepared on an as-needed basis or as part of the overall review.
Service Provider Search and Review.png

We can request retirement plan proposals from a group of recordkeeping platforms based on stated goals, objectives, and demographics of the plan and subsequently prepare a report to summarize their results. This summary report is designed to provide comparison of the features, benefits, available investment options, and fees of a specific record-keeper product that can be analyzed in comparison to the stated criteria. Searches and reviews may be performed on an as-needed basis for your fiduciary due diligence file or upon request to help you make informed decisions on a product solution.
*For the purpose of this publication, an Investment Advisor is a person as defined under ERISA section 3(21) who may: – Provide investment advice to participants or other fiduciaries in connection with plan assets. – Serve in an advisory capacity only (leaving final decisions to another fiduciary). “Advisory” fiduciaries are sometimes known as “limited scope” fiduciaries, or more commonly referred to as someone who provides investment recommendations. In either case, the employer still decides to accept or decline the recommendation provided by the hired investment advisor and is still a fiduciary. An agreement is typically executed between the employer and the 3(21) fiduciary.
