Our Family Greece Vacation: Teaching Our Kids Values for a Lasting Legacy

This summer, my family checked a bucket-list item off our list with a trip to Greece’s islands—a dream my wife shared on our third date 17 years ago (outside a bar near the Music Box Theatre, where she graciously covered my parking ticket!). Beyond memories, this trip was about teaching our kids values to pass on, just as we help you build a legacy for your family.

In Naxos, we stayed steps from a crystal-clear beach (watch out for the occasional naked sunbather!). The kids’ were greeted with their first mocktails upon arrival which sparked their curiosity, while dining at The Butcher Tavern in Kinidaros introduced them to farm-to-table flavors. A boat tour to Paros made Archer and me “Mud Twins” after a therapeutic mud bath—teaching them to embrace new experiences. We help you plan for such adventures to instill curiosity in your children.

Santorini’s black beaches were our kids’ highlight, outshining even the iconic whitewashed homes. Meals at Mia’s, Melitini, and Santorinia Tavern, with minty mocktails, taught them to savor life’s small joys and ask big questions. A boat excursion to the red beach and sulfur springs deepened their sense of wonder and family connection. Legacy planning helps ensure your kids carry these values of togetherness forward.

In Athens, a private guide brought the Acropolis to life, especially the Temple of Athena Nike, where Archer, conveniently in his Nike shirt, fit in perfectly. Rooftop dining at Kuzina and Point A, with Acropolis views, and eclectic drinks at Rude Lord, including ginger-infused lemonade, showed our kids the value of heritage. These moments inspire us to plan legacies—through trusts or savings—that let your children pass down history to their own kids.

Thank you for trusting us with your financial journey. Greece showed me how shared experiences teach kids curiosity, connection, and heritage—values we help you preserve for generations. What’s your dream family adventure?
