I am so excited about this post. I have been waiting nearly all of 2019 to make my idea into reality. It all started back in April 2009 when my wife Donna Sabb and I decided to become independent financial advisors. We chose Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network, LLC, for a variety of reasons, predominately because it had all the services, features and benefits that my clients were accustomed. At the time we were working at a very large, well known firm and it was in turmoil. Eventually it was sold, even after the chairman of the board a week earlier said we were the crown jewel of the company and we would never be sold. So, Donna and I left and opened the Princeton Group and affiliated with Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network.
The past 10 years has been great. We’ve had our fair share of success and failure. We’ve made mistakes and prospered too. Throughout the entire ten years, we’ve learned how to be better financial advisors and better business owners. The real truth is that I’ve never felt more alive in my business life. I’m more excited because I lead the life I’ve wanted to and we run the business the way Donna and I’ve always wanted to. I’ve said countless times that I’m nearly 60 years old and I feel lite on fire. I have a passion for the work and business that I never thought I would achieve. My only true regret is I didn’t start earlier as an independent advisor.
A passion of mine is to bring financial advisors to the independent space. One Saturday, I was thinking about how happy I was as an independent advisor. I finally found the control of business life that I always wanted, I was servicing the needs of all my clients in the fashion that I wanted, and I felt a sense of personal fulfillment that had previously eluded me. It was then that I thought that all my friends in the industry should become independent financial advisors. So began my personal journey to introduce financial advisors to the world of independence.
Over the past ten years, I’ve interviewed hundreds of potential advisors, brought on close to 20 advisors to my practice and several I’ve helped be independent on their own. I’ve coached other owners on how to recruit successfully, spoke on numerous podcasts, interviewed by several publications, traveled to numerous cities around the country to speak to financial advisors about becoming independent advisors. It’s all been thrilling and exciting.
My newest adventure is the video. After months of planning, concept development, writing and of course, corporate approval, we started feeling over two days in June and completed the editing over the summer. It was a blast to do and now I want to share it with everyone on LinkedIn.
I ask that you do something. If you like it, share it, particularly with your financial advisor. If they are not happy where they are at, maybe this might help them become happier in their personal and work life. If you think that you’d like to talk to me, call me. If you’d like to meet me, I’d be glad to do so.
I’m looking forward to hearing from you.
