Quin Oaks Investment Group embraces a team approach in how we manage all of our clients’ portfolios. We bring an extensive pool of experience to each client relationship, all centered around helping our clients achieve their most important financial goals.
David Clarke’s interest in the stock market dates back to his college years after taking an investment class at Virginia Tech. This class required him to build a mock portfolio of stocks. His portfolio performed exceptionally well and his love for and career in the financial service industry began.
Having joined the industry in 1983, David’s extensive experience through major market shifts enables him to help clients structure balanced portfolios that are designed to meet their specific financial goals. He believes strongly in educating our clients by demystifying complex investment concepts and strategies.
His services extend beyond the traditional client as well. He helps fiduciaries with the special needs of their clients. David has been involved with the Professional Fiduciary Association of California for over 20 years. During this time, he has advised many fiduciaries and have become well versed with the Prudent Investor Act.
David lives in Orinda with his wife Cristy - they have three daughters. Away from the office he enjoys an active family lifestyle, traveling and participating in a variety of sports. Although his serious basketball days are behind him, he still enjoys running the Lafayette Rim Trail, paddle boarding at Lake Tahoe and going to Warriors games. David is a long- time suffering (but not anymore) fan.

Wells Fargo Investment Institute, Inc. is a registered investment adviser and wholly-owned subsidiary of Wells Fargo Bank, N.A., a bank affiliate of Wells Fargo & Company.
During his senior year at UCLA, Mark Passalacqua interned at Dean Witter with the intention of becoming a "stock broker" after graduation. However, at that time, the stock market was around 770, and the outlook was bleak for a new graduate in a struggling market – so he went into marketing and sales. During the subsequent 20+ years, Mark worked with several early stage companies, where he was on their initial management teams, and he even founded his own start-up, SportsID, during the dot-com era.
Coming full circle – in 2008, Mark was recruited by Morgan Stanley for their Rainmaker program, and – you guessed it – he got to witness how history can repeat itself. During his first week in production, the market began its extended downward spiral. So, his first few years in this business were definitely interesting. He believes the timing was “perfect” relative to getting fully immersed in the market when times were tough as a battle-tested way to learn the ropes.
The common thread in all Mark’s experiences has been business and relationship development, where communication is key. He has found that trust builds relationships, and vice versa. When times are challenging, communication becomes even more important because that is when his clients really need to know that his team is working for them and looking out for their best interest.
Mark has enjoyed working with David and the Quin Oaks Investment Group since 2008. He and David share similar values, especially when it comes to family, relationships and living by the "golden rule." This ethos has served them well in building their business and long-term relationships with clients. His focus and specialization are on investment planning, retirement/401(k) plans and relationship development for the group.
Mark lives in Lafayette with his wife, Lisa, and their three daughters. Away from the office, he is immersed in family life and loves doing anything as a family. Mark also coaches volleyball at local high schools and youth league, sits on his swim club board, and hopes to run for mayor someday. He enjoys construction (he is doing his own remodel/addition), surfing, music, and fitness – even playing a little volleyball.
