Eric has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. He specializes in Comprehensive Wealth Management with a focus on retirement and estate planning strategies. Eric believes that a comprehensive investment plan that explores all financial and lifestyle goals can help clients accumulate, preserve and distribute wealth. His goal is to help clients realize their life dreams and aspirations and then help them achieve those goals. He takes time to thoroughly answer clients’ questions and explain investment concepts and strategies in easy-to-understand terms. Eric founded Scioto Wealth Advisors in 2010 with a vision of providing clients with a complete financial institution.
Eric graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1997 with a Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration / Finance. He holds his Series 7, 24, 31, 63 and 65 securities registrations as well as his Life and Health Insurance licenses. Eric also holds the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor, CRPC® certification.
Eric founded the MJF Fund for Cancer Research in memory of his parents, Malcolm and Joyce Friedman, who both lost their battle with cancer. He is co-founder and board member of Families for a Cure Foundation, which is dedicated to raising donations for cancer research and patient care programs through local community events. He is also a volunteer and sponsor for the Columbus American Cancer Society. Eric and his wife Cassie have three children and currently reside in Upper Arlington.
In 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 Eric received the Five Star Wealth Manager award. He is honored to be a recipient because 7% of wealth managers in the Columbus area receive this award in 2020. The Premier Advisor distinction is held by a select group of Financial Advisors within Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network as measured by completion of educational components, business production based on either of the past two years, and professionalism. The Five Star Wealth Manager award, administered by Crescendo Business Services, LLC (dba Five Star Professional), is based on 10 objective criteria. Eligibility criteria – required: 1. Credentialed as a registered investment adviser or a registered investment adviser representative; 2. Actively licensed as a registered investment adviser or as a principal of a registered investment adviser firm for a minimum of 5 years; 3. Favorable regulatory and complaint history review (As defined by Five Star Professional, the wealth manager has not; A. Been subject to a regulatory action that resulted in a license being suspended or revoked, or payment of a fine; B. Had more than a total of three settled or pending complaints filed against them and/or a total of five settled, pending, dismissed or denied complaints with any regulatory authority or Five Star Professional’s consumer complaint process. Unfavorable feedback may have been discovered through a check of complaints registered with a regulatory authority or complaints registered through Five Star Professional’s consumer complaint process; feedback may not be representative of any one clients’ experience; C. Individually contributed to a financial settlement of a customer complaint; D. Filed for personal bankruptcy within the past 11 years; E. Been terminated from a financial services firm within the past 11 years; F. Been convicted of a felony); 4. Fulfilled their firm review based on internal standards; 5. Accepting new clients. Evaluation criteria – considered: 6. One-year client retention rate; 7. Five-year client retention rate; 8. Non-institutional discretionary and/or non-discretionary client assets administered; 9.
