Terry Blanchard
Managing Director - Investments
I am a native Californian, born and raised in the Los Angeles area. I graduated from the University of San Diego with a degree in political science and a certificate of paralegal studies from the USD Law School. I have been a trusted financial advisor for over 35 years having worked at UBS, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley and Paine Webber prior to joining Wells Fargo Advisors in 2009.
I formed our team in 2015. Our team helps build, manage, preserve and transition wealth for a select group of individuals, families, professionals and businesses. We take a comprehensive approach to wealth management. Wealth consists of investments, liability management, risk management (through insurance and other asset protection strategies) and trust (through bank affiliates), estate and fiduciary services.
Our process always begins by listening to our clients. We listen to understand their past experiences, current situation and aspirations for the future. With the information clients share with us we go to work. We study, test, analyze, model and develop customized solutions and strategies to help them meet their goals and objectives. Then we explain our recommendations in plain, simple English with no technical jargon. With our client’s permission, we implement our recommendations in an independent, objective, unbiased and cost-effective manner. Then we follow and evaluate the progress of the client’s plans and we will make adjustments when there are material changes in the markets, changes in tax laws or changes in the lives of our clients.
I have taught several investment planning courses and have spoken about Investment Management and Retirement Planning for Fortune 500 companies. I have also been a featured speaker for many women’s groups in the area of Wealth Management for Women.
Outside of work, I maintain a well-balanced life. I am an avid Dodgers and Lakers fan, but enjoy sports in general. When my schedule allows, I like to play golf and attend classic rock concerts. Additionally, I enjoy travel and spending time with my children, Brandon and Nicole. I believe in giving back. As a result, I support Wounded Warriors, the Jessie Rees Foundation and Children International.

CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™
I graduated from UC San Diego with a B.S. in management science and a business minor (concentration in finance). At UCSD, I was a member of the NCAA basketball team and was involved with various finance and economic clubs. I have my Series 7 and 66 registrations as well as my California Life, Accident, Health and Variable Contracts license. I am also a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional.
As a child, I learned the value of hard work, discipline, and a long-term approach. I still remember asking for additional chores as a child so that I could earn money and add to my savings. I loved seeing my money make money! These principles propelled me to success in school, sports and in my personal finances. Without these values, I do not think I would have made it to play NCAA basketball. Although I had passion and talent for basketball, I knew that I did not have a professional basketball career in front of me. However, I wanted to make sure that my eventual career incorporated these values along with my proclivity for math and numbers.
At UCSD, an investments class gave me additional appreciation for saving, prudent investing and being financially self-sufficient. This class sparked a passion in me and led me to a financial services internship the summer before my senior year of college and a position as the teaching assistant for the investments class. These experiences intrigued, fascinated, and challenged me, opening my eyes to the complexities of the investment markets, along with the breadth of knowledge and experience needed to succeed financially. I realized that I could make a career out of this knowledge and passion while having a positive impact on people’s lives.
I love my job and this dynamic field! From rules, regulations, tools and planning techniques to changes, improvements and new hurdles, I really like to learn and push myself. The economy, markets, laws, and technology are ever evolving, and I enjoy staying on top of these changes for our clients. I prioritize my education and training so that I can deliver the highest level of service and advice possible to our clients. The most fulfilling part of my job is helping clients through the financial mazes of life in order that they might experience fewer concerns, less stress and better financial outcomes. This allows them to enjoy their passions and spend more time with their loved ones.
