For over two decades, Jonathan has helped clients address their financial concerns and develop sound strategies by focusing on each individual’s specific needs. With extensive experience throughout major shifts in the markets, Jon has dedicated his career to delivering the personalized investment planning services his clients deserve.
Jon began as a Financial Advisor at a major brokerage firm and joined Wachovia Securities, a predecessor of Wells Fargo Advisors, in 2008. Bay Ridge Private Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors is the latest iteration of the comprehensive, team-based approach to financial planning that Jon has practiced his entire career. With a commitment to continuing education in the many facets of wealth management and planning, Jon has earned the professional designations of Certified Financial Planner (CFP®), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®) and, most recently, Certified Private Wealth Advisor (CPWA®). Jon has always been interested in people and learning their stories. Finding creative solutions problems, feeds his desire to help people.
Jon is driven by his passion to serve the community. His current volunteer projects include serving on the boards of the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce, Charlottesville Economic Development Authority, and as Board President of Literacy Volunteers of Charlottesville/Albemarle, whose goal is to address the low literacy and under-education of adults in our region through free, individualized reading, writing and English language instruction.
Jon grew up in Central Virginia and received his Bachelor of Arts from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). During his time at VCU, he met his wife, Chrissy. The couple is proud of their two adult children, Taylor and Hannah, along with their niece, Jayden, whom they helped rear. Now as recent empty-nesters, Jon and Chrissy continue to explore their passions of travel, reading, and hiking, while finishing active days with a nice glass of local beer or wine.

Patrick Carroll, CFP, CFA
Financial Advisor

As a Financial Advisor, Patrick is dedicated to helping clients meet their financial goals. Whether you are planning your retirement, saving for your children's or grandchildren's education, or looking to preserve your wealth, Patrick is eager to assist you in working towards those objectives. His mission is to help each one of his clients plan for a financial future in a way that best meets their needs.
Patrick graduated from the University of Vermont with a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in finance. Upon graduating, Patrick joined Northwestern Mutual, working through their rigorous training program to become a licensed life and health insurance agent. Once involved in financial services, Patrick followed his love of investments which brought him down to Blacksburg, VA to join a wealth management firm. In 2012, Patrick decided to join a wealth management team in Charlottesville and worked with them for three years. Patrick was excited by the opportunity to join Jonathan Chasen, Private Wealth Financial Advisor, and his team at Wells Fargo Advisors in January of 2015.
Patrick's desire to learn more has led him to obtain several industry designations. He started by earning the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) practitioner designation in the summer of 2013. The CFP® certification identifies those individuals who have met experience standards, ethical requirements and completed a rigorous examination, as well as ongoing education requirements. He then obtained the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation in August of 2014. This designation reinforced Patrick’s fundamental knowledge of investment principles, economics, quantitative methods, corporate finance, portfolio management, and wealth planning. He is able to apply all these principles across all areas of the investment decision-making process. In 2020, Patrick was named a Premier Advisor, a distinction held by a select group of Financial Advisors within Wells Fargo Advisors measured by business production, completion of educational components and professionalism, and sometimes including additional criteria, like length of service.
Patrick loves exploring the greater Charlottesville area. Along with his family, he frequently hikes local trails and visits the many wineries in the area. He enjoys running and has completed several marathons. Carpentry and gardening have become his passion, which is evident in the many projects he takes on at home. Lacrosse fuels his athletic side. Patrick has coached and enjoys playing in pickup leagues. He & his wife, Melissa, are most proud of their three boys, Keegan, Parker, and Lucas.

Shelley Bishop
Private Wealth Financial Consultant
With over ten years in the financial services industry, in April 2020, Shelley joined the Bay Ridge Private Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors as a Financial Consultant where she helps the team continue to build upon the foundation of planning the client-centered processes.
Before entering the financial services industry, Shelley graduated from Mary Baldwin College with a degree in Business Administration and worked as a Broker-Dealer Examiner/Auditor for the State Corporation Commission in Richmond. Her rewarding work at the SCC prompted her to continue my education at Washington & Lee University School of Law. After completing a federal bankruptcy clerkship with the Honorable Robert G. Mayer in Alexandria, Virginia, in 2004 she permanently settled in Staunton and entered private practice at Wharton, Aldhizer and Weaver, PLC. In 2009, she left the practice of law and began her financial services career as a financial advisor with Edward Jones in Augusta County and Staunton. In May 2013, Shelley decided to transition her practice to Wells Fargo Advisors.
Away from the office, Shelley enjoys time with her two sons, Nicholas and Pierce. She stays busy with the boys’ many activities but it seems lately they can mainly be found at a baseball or soccer field on the weekends.
In addition to helping clients, Shelley is committed to helping her community. She remains an active alumna of Mary Baldwin having served on its Advisory Board of Visitors for six years and serving on its search committee for the College’s Vice President of Institutional Advancement. She recently committed her six year term on the Board of Directors for Community Child Care Center, a non-profit, sliding scale child care center in Staunton.

Crystal G. Martin
Private Wealth Senior Registered Client Associate
Crystal is a Private Wealth Senior Registered Client Associate, holding her Series 7, 9, 10, 31, 63 and 65 licenses, along with a life and health insurance license. With almost 20 years in the financial services industry, Crystal serves as the practice manager for the Bay Ridge Private Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors. She ensures that the team’s day to day operations run smoothly and that the team stays on track in contacting clients and staying proactive regarding their needs. Crystal also makes sure the team is compliant in the ever expanding regulatory environment.
After receiving her undergraduate and master's degree from Virginia Tech, Crystal began working at a major brokerage firm in 2003. She then joined a predecessor firm of Wells Fargo & Co. in 2004. During her tenure with Wells Fargo Advisors, Crystal has served in several roles in the operations, compliance, and client support areas. Most recently before joining Bay Ridge Private Wealth Management Group in 2021, she served as a regional compliance manager.
Outside of the office, Crystal is married to Chuck and the mother of two active teenagers, Ethan and Grace. An avid sports fan, she can often be found at the baseball or football field and enjoys cheering on her local high school team as well as her alma mater, Virginia Tech. She and her family also enjoy many outdoor activities together including hiking and kayaking. Crystal is active in her community and serves on many volunteer groups with her local public school division and at her church.

John R. Smith, III
Senior Vice President – Investments

John Smith is a partner in Bay Ridge Private Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors & Senior Financial Advisor with Wells Fargo Advisors, holding his Series 7, 26, 63 and 66 licenses, along with a life and health insurance license. With more than two decades in the Financial Services Industry, John uses his experiences & background to offer professional wealth management including four primary pillars: Investments, Liability Management, Estate Planning Strategies and Risk Management.
John employs a collaborative process with clients, designing & implementing customized portfolio strategies, based on individual client goals. He has further experience in endowment and non-profit management. After receiving his undergraduate from the University of Virginia in Economics, John got his start in financial services in 1998 at a bank based brokerage firm in Richmond, VA. He was recruited to further build his practice with Wells Fargo Advisors in 2006. As John’s client profile became more complex, he’s found value in partnering with a collaborative practice to enhance the client experience, joining Bay Ridge Private Wealth Management Group in 2022. John was named a Premier Advisor with Wells Fargo Advisors in 2013 - 2016.
Outside of the office, John is married to Elizabeth and they are the parents of two active daughters, Talia & Sofia. Due to their many activities, he can mostly be found on a volleyball court on the weekends or taking hikes. He enjoys swimming and wrestled for UVA. Today, his biggest outlet for fun is fishing in deep water. With his Viking docked in St. Augustine, FL, you’ll find him there during high season fishing the deep waters of the Atlantic for pelagic gamefish.
Noah Chapman Elias, MBA
Financial Advisor
As a Financial Advisor, Noah is dedicated to helping individuals and businesses develop financial and investment strategies that line up with their needs, goals and risk tolerance. His mission is to provide every client with targeted, comprehensive financial advice and portfolio management - delivered with the highest level of personal service and professional integrity.
Early in his career, Noah worked as a Branch Manager with Wells Fargo Bank N.A. in Louisa, Virginia. He is a graduate from James Madison University with a master’s degree in business administration.
Noah strives to help each of his clients plan for a financial future in a way that best meets his or her goals. In addition to helping his clients, he is committed to helping his community. Noah is currently involved with the Central Virginia Wells Fargo Volunteer Network, the Charlottesville PRIDE Employee Resource Network, and Stonewall Sports leagues. Away from the office, Noah enjoys running, biking, swimming, and volleyball. Noah and his partner live in Louisa with their dogs Faith, Asa, and Vera.

Heather Nadeau
Client Associate
Heather Nadeau is a Client Associate with over ten years’ experience in the financial industry. A Virginia Tech alumna, Heather began her career with Wells Fargo and Co. in 2011 and held a variety of positions within the retail banking branch system prior to her transition to the Bay Ridge Private Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors in June 2022.
Heather takes the most pride in her family, especially her husband, Vince, and their two children, Landon and Olivia. When not attending her children’s sporting events or other activities, Heather enjoys traveling and spending time at the lake with her family.
Miyanna Bell
Client Associate
Miyanna is currently a third-year at the University of Virginia studying media studies. In the future, she hopes to continue a career in the field of marketing and digital advertising.
In her free-time, she takes part in several organizations on Grounds and volunteers her time back to the community. Currently she is the Media Coordinator for the UVA chapter of My Sister’s Keeper, a mentor to students in the Commerce Cohort, and a volunteer for the Undergraduate Admissions Diversity and Outreach office. Additionally, she gives back to the community by participating with the George Washington Carver Annual Black Business Expo where she supports the expansion of local, black-owned businesses.
Her experiences with Truist Wealth Investment Services has prepared her for this new journey. In her role, she will be enhancing marketing strategies and increasing the digital presence of our team. She is excited for the adventures ahead!
