I've been fortunate to be a part of the Wells Fargo Advisors family (and its predecessor firms) since 1991. As Managing Director - Investments and Senior PIM Portfolio Manager, I lead a team that manages over $1.6 billion¹ in assets for high-net-worth individuals and endowments. My passion lies in understanding each client's unique needs and crafting personalized solutions to help them achieve their financial goals.

I believe in a hands-on approach, and I'm deeply versed in issues related to portfolio management, fixed income portfolio construction and concentrated stock hedging strategies. It has been an honor to be consistently recognized as a Platinum Council member for the last 25 years (2000-2025), but the real reward is seeing the positive impact we make in our clients' lives.

Outside of my work, I am passionate about giving back to my community. I currently have the privilege of serving on the board of La Jolla Playhouse as a past chair. During my 20 years of board service, I have led the Playhouse strategy to become one of the most financially secure non-profit theaters in the country. I've also had the pleasure of serving on the boards of Theatre Communications Group and New York's Tectonic Theatre Project.
 
As a proud alumnus of the University of California, San Diego, I have completed triathlons, (including the California Half-Ironman twice). My wife Gail and I love collecting wine, theater, photography, and traveling the world.

My commitment to making a difference extends far beyond the realm of finance. I spent 25 years on the Board of Directors for the Natural High Foundation, a San Diego nonprofit dedicated to inspiring our nation's youth to embrace a drug-free lifestyle. As Board Chair for the Life Rolls On Foundation, I had the opportunity to support nationwide programs that empower individuals with spinal cord injuries. I also served as a Sergeant with the San Diego Honorary Deputy Sheriff's Association.

These experiences have not only been incredibly rewarding on a personal level, but they have also shaped my approach to client relationships. I bring the same level of dedication, empathy, and holistic thinking to every interaction, whether I'm helping a client navigate a complex financial decision or volunteering my time to a worthy cause. This commitment has been recognized through accolades such as the San Diego 10News Leadership Award and being named to the Non-Profit Times "Top Non-Profit Executives" list2. I've also had the privilege of sharing my insights through publications such as the Chronicle of Philanthropy, Kiplinger's Personal Finance, San Diego Union Tribune, Los Angeles Times, La Jolla Light, and Non-Profit Times.

My degrees from University of California at San Diego (UCSD) and a Master of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Financial and Tax Planning from San Diego State University, have equipped me with the knowledge and skills to navigate the intricacies of the financial world.

My wife Ricki and I have two teenage daughters, and three beloved "fur-kids": Monkey the Terrier, Juicy the English Mastiff, and Yoshi the “Super Mutt”. As a former competitive surfer with UCSD, I had the honor of winning two national titles. Today, I find joy in fishing, photography, surfing, and exploring the world through travel.

My multi-dimensional approach to investment planning is rooted in my extensive educational background. I earned my bachelor's degree from the University of California at San Diego and completed the Personal Financial Planning Program at San Diego State University (SDSU). I went on to earn a Master of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Financial and Tax Planning, also from SDSU. As a member of SDSU's Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society, I was honored to receive the Charles Lamden Rising Star in Business award. I’ve also been recognized by Forbes as a Best-in-State Wealth Advisor for 2024 and 2025. The Bryan-Billauer-Kozo Group of Wells Fargo Advisors has been recognized as Best-in-State Wealth Management Team for 2025. From 2015-2025, I've been recognized as a Platinum Council member (previously known as Premier Advisor), a distinction I share with a select group of Financial Advisors who exemplify excellence in education, business production, professionalism, best practices, and team structure.

Beyond my securities registrations and insurance licenses, I hold the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® certification and the Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) designation. These achievements reflect my commitment to providing comprehensive, top-tier financial advice to every client I serve.

Giving back to my community is equally important to me. I had the privilege of serving as Vice President and Treasurer during my 12-year tenure on the Board of Trustees for the Museum of Photographic Arts (MOPA) in Balboa Park.

Family is the cornerstone of my life. My wife, Katherine, and I are the proud parents of triplets – Auline, Jackson, and Lucas. We make our home in the beautiful city of La Jolla. When I'm not cheering on the Angels, Seahawks, or SDSU athletics, you can find me on the tennis court with Jackson or coaching Lucas’ baseball team.

Juliana began her career with Wells Fargo Advisors in 2000. She primarily handles the managed account trading, provides equity, bond, and fund analysis, and assists with financial plans and client presentations. Juliana attended the University of California, San Diego and holds her FINRA Series 7, 63, 65 securities registrations.

Juliana was born and raised in San Diego and enjoys spending time with her husband and extended family. Her hobbies include reading, camping, hiking and traveling.

Maria has worked with the Bryan-Billauer-Kozo Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors since 2024. Maria brings a wealth of experience, having started her career at Merrill Lynch in 2006. She has spent the last several years as a Team Administrator at UBS and dedicated 14 years at Morgan Stanley in various roles, including as a Portfolio Associate and Financial Planning Associate. Maria is FINRA Series 7 and Series 66 registered. She is responsible for handling all aspects of the client relationship, including day-to-day administrative account services.

On a personal note, Maria is originally from Sweden and has called San Diego home since 2004. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband Wylander, their son Zion, and their Mini-Goldendoodle, Teddy. Her passions include beach outings, traveling, yoga, and cooking.

Joelle began her career with Wells Fargo Advisors in 2004. She strives to ensure that our clients’ administrative and operational needs are handled accurately and quickly.  Joelle handles day-to-day administration of accounts, including opening new accounts, updating existing account information and managing account transfers.

Joelle was born and raised in San Diego, spends her free time with her husband and two young sons.  She enjoys watching her boys play lots of different sports and she loves traveling to the Big Island of Hawaii with the family.
