“Eddie’s” amazing story in finance began early. Reared with a strong work ethic, he ran both an egg route and a paper route at age 14. He also developed a fascination with stocks and with his mother’s guidance, slowly began buying shares with his earnings. Though his father passed away when he was a teenager, rather than deter him, it strengthened his resolve to succeed. Assuming his late father’s role, he became the backbone of his family’s financial life.
He went on to serve in the Navy from 1962 to 1964, navigating ships through the Far East. While stationed in ports like Yokosuka, Subic Bay and Okinawa, he spent his free time pouring over the Wall Street Journal and other financial publications, preparing himself for the career he was determined to build in finance.
A Sixty Year Commitment to the Market
Returning to the U.S., Eddie landed his first job in 1966 on Wall Street. He earned his Series 7 license in 1967, marking the start of a career that would span some of the most dynamic decades in financial history.
After spending 32 years at Bear Stearns/JP Morgan, he joined forces with his son, David, and the Broadleaf Wealth Management team at UBS.
Eddie’s investment philosophy is a blend of structure and intuition, developed over decades of firsthand experience. His portfolios balance managed accounts and individual stocks, evolving with market conditions and client needs, and he is a true asset manager of portfolio construction.
While he has embraced new strategies to adapt to changing industry landscapes, his core belief remains the same: that investing requires patience, knowledge and an ability to see opportunity where others don’t.
USC and a Love of Horses
Eddie is a USC alum, and he’s also the reason their famed mascot, Traveler, gallops across campus. After the school had lost its bulldog in 1961, Eddie brought Traveler to the Hollywood Bowl Spring Sing. For more than forty years, he took financial care of Traveler’s multiple iterations, traveled with him and was on the field as his handler, making sure he was the apple of everyone’s eye.
Eddie passed the horse onto the school years ago, but the mascot’s bloodline has his DNA all over it. He still has his own stable of racehorses and happily spends time with his people at the races.
Eddie's connection to USC continues to this day. His decades-long commitment to both USC's ROTC program and mentoring at the Marshall School speaks to his dedication to mentorship and education.
Beyond the Markets
Outside the office, Eddie lives in Brentwood with his wife of 47 years, Patti. A dedicated family man, he takes immense pride in his four children: Dana, Megan, Carrie, and David.
Through it all, Eddie remains as passionate about the market as he was when he bought his first shares—and for nearly six decades, he had shared that passion with the clients who trust him to guide their financial futures.
