Roy (Monty) HargroveManaging Director - Investments
Monty Hargrove began his career in the financial services industry in 1980 as a Financial Advisor with Wheat First Securities, Inc. a predecessor to Wells Fargo Advisors. His entire career has been spent in Williamsburg, Virginia.
In 1988 Monty earned the designation of CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Professional. He is a Managing Director-Investments and PIM Portfolio Manager with Wells Fargo Advisors and has been recognized by the firm as a Premier Manager since 2012(1) and a Premier Advisor since 2014(2). Monty has also been recognized as FORBES Best in State Advisor(3) since 2019 and a Five Star (Wealth Advisor) Monty brings his industry tenure, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification and (Senior) PIM Portfolio Manager designation to provide personalized investment planning services to his clients. Monty became Branch Manager of the Williamsburg branch in 1997. This role provides a comprehensive depth of experience to handling client assets and situations. Monty earned his BS degree in Business from Lynchburg College in 1980 and his MBA from Lynchburg College in 1985.
A native of Farmville, Virginia, Monty and his wife Ashley have four children Bo, Allie, Lauren and Taylor. Monty has been active in the local community since his arrival. He is a founding board member and a two-time past Chairman of the Board of Hospice Support Care of Williamsburg, past Chairman of the Board of Hampton Roads Academy, past board member of Williamsburg Landing Retirement community and he currently serves on the Advisory Council for Literacy for Life adult literacy program in Williamsburg and on The Hospice Support Care of Williamsburg Council. In his spare time, Monty enjoys golf, skeet shooting, hunting, reading and gardening.
