I began my career in New York City as an equity institutional trader after completing my undergraduate and graduate coursework in Economics at the University of Southern California. My wife and I chose to move to Charlottesville in 1992 to raise our children and I have been advising families ever since. Prior to joining Wells Fargo Advisors in 2016, my team worked at Morgan Stanley and its predecessor, Smith Barney, for 18 years.

As a founding member of The Higgins Private Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors, I have made it our team’s mission to build deep and lasting relationships with a select group of families and individuals, based on understanding, integrity, accountability and mutual trust.

Our team provides a truly comprehensive planning based approach to family wealth management. My particular area of focus is constructing portfolio strategies designed to meet each of our client’s specific needs. I also take a lead role in advising on estate planning strategies, asset protection, philanthropy, and multi-generational family dynamics. I make a point to remain up to date in my areas of expertise and am an avid reader of the current academic literature that addresses these topics. I have been recognized as a Best-In-State Wealth Advisor* by Forbes every year since 2019.

I am actively engaged in the community and have many personal interests. My family's current philanthropic focus is targeted on addressing childhood education, and nutrition of the underserved population. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, music, being outdoors, and fly fishing. Most of all, my greatest pleasure is spending time with my wife, Sandra, and our three grown children, Maxwell, Tessa, and Lucas.

In addition, I assist in creating investment plans for our clients and am responsible for model and allocation updates to our asset management platform.
