With over 32 years of experience in financial services, I help manage assets for individuals, trusts, retirement plans, charitable organizations, and businesses. Through a long-term investment approach, I help clients develop and implement strategies for building wealth and realizing their goals. My mission is to provide objective and timely financial advice and guidance - with the highest level of professional service - in building and preserving wealth for my clients.

Before joining Wells Fargo Advisors in 1999, I was a financial advisor for Piper Jaffray, my employer of 6 years. I hold a bachelor’s degree in finance from Iowa State University. With an emphasis on continuing education, I have also earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® designation from the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. (CFP Board). For this designation, I had to complete approved educational programs, pass rigorous examinations, and meet stringent experience requirements. I also hold the Accredited Asset Management Specialist designation (AAMS®). My industry registrations include the Series 7 and 66, as well as life and health insurance licenses.

Away from the office, I also enjoy hunting, biking, and traveling. My wife, Debby, and I live in Ankeny but can often be found visiting our grandchildren.

My extensive experience - throughout major shifts in the markets - enables me to help my clients structure balanced portfolios to address their specific financial goals.

In 2013, I began my financial services career as a Financial Advisor with Wells Fargo. Today, I serve on a multi-generational team which includes my father, Bill Hudson and husband, Alec Nielsen. I work primarily with individuals and their families to preserve and grow family wealth for generations to come. Additionally, my clients have access to Wells Fargo affiliate products and services such as Wealth Planning, Private Banking, Trust and Fiduciary Services and Insurance as well as various customized and traditional lending products.

Prior to joining Wells Fargo, I earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Iowa State University. My industry registrations include the Series 7 and 66, as well as life and health insurance licenses. I was recognized as one of the 2024 Forbes' Top Next-Gen Best-In-State Wealth Advisors.

Away from the office, I enjoy attending college athletic events and bicycling the trails in the Des Moines area. My husband and I live in Waukee with our children Mila, Axel, and dogs, Simba & Malley.

As a Financial Advisor, I work with clients to help them realize, define, and prioritize their goals. I start my process by listening and getting to know my clients, their concerns, and desires. I am proud to work alongside family members who are financial advisors including my wife, Holly Nielsen, and father-in-law, Bill Hudson.

I have been in the financial services industry since 2009. Prior to joining Wells Fargo Advisors, I worked in business development and wealth advising for multiple Iowa based companies. Throughout my career, I have continued to broaden my education by obtaining the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®), Charted Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®), and Chartered Mutual Fund Counselor (CMFC®) designations. My industry registrations include the FINRA Series 7 & 66, as well as life and health insurance licenses.

Before beginning my financial career, I earned my bachelor’s degree in Marketing from the University of Iowa Tippie College of Business. I also received a minor in Communication Studies. While in Iowa City, I was an active member in the community and an avid Hawkeye athletic supporter. Currently, I am on the Foundation Board of Directors for Broadlawns Medical Center. I am also actively involved with IMPACT Melanoma and the Single Parent Provision organization.

Away from the office, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Holly, my children, Mila & Axel, and our dogs, Simba & Malley. I also enjoy going on family bike rides, Hawkeye and North Carolina sporting events, and tinkering around with home improvement projects.

With over 24 years of financial industry experience, I strive to provide excellent customer service to clients while providing administrative support to the team’s financial advisors. My responsibilities include working with clients to resolve their various service needs, preparing account reports, supporting financial reviews, and completing trades.

Prior to joining Wells Fargo Advisors, I served as an Army Infantryman with the 10th Mountain Division, deploying to Somalia, Haiti and other sensitive locations around the globe. I graduated from the University of Illinois with a bachelor’s degree in Finance and started my financial career as an advisor with Ameriprise Financial in Chicago.

In 2008, I moved from the suburbs of Chicago to Iowa. I currently live in Grimes with my wife, Lisa, and son, Cameron. In my free time, you can catch me at Illinois football and basketball games or on the hiking paths of the outdoors.
