Meet the Team

Barbara Huffman has over 40 years of experience in the financial services industry and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER^TM professional. She is dedicated to helping clients clarify their goals and develop tailored strategies to help them work towards their objectives. Barbara’s mission is to ensure that each client has a plan in place that is flexible to adjust as they face life’s expected and unexpected changes.

Barbara graduated Phi Beta from the Kenan-Flagler School of Business at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Barbara is passionate about community involvement, and she has sat on numerous boards including the Humane Society of Charlotte, Save Alliance, RAIN, and Catawba Land Conservancy. She has been a member of Women’s Executive since 1994. She cycles on various rails-to-trails bike ways and on Oak Island. She is also a travel enthusiast, avid gardener, and art collector.

Jennifer derives her satisfaction from the investing successes and financial well-being of the people she helps. While she has a passion for creating customized plans, she also believes there is more to her work than just analyzing, constructing, or implementing investment strategies. To that end, she strives to understand each client’s whole financial picture.

Jennifer’s comprehensive approach includes wealth protection, risk management, legacy planning and charitable giving, wealth/estate transfer strategies, and more. She believes in the importance of each client’s unique personal factors, needs, goals and dreams. Listening carefully and considering all aspects of clients’ financial lives allows her to build lasting relationships.

Outside of the office, Jennifer belongs to the Women’s Impact Fund of Charlotte, a collective giving organization. She also stays busy with her husband, two grown kids, and their German Shepard. She likes DIY projects and loves the outdoors. She also enjoys traveling and reading.

Elizabeth Cothren joined the Huffman-Powel Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors in 2022, and Wells Fargo Advisors in 2018. Elizabeth is focused on creating and implementing comprehensive investment plans and helping clients take a thoughtful approach to their finances. As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER^TM professional, she is committed to upholding the high standards of the CFP Board and the fiduciary status that puts her on the same side of the table as clients when making financial decisions.

Elizabeth grew up in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to entering financial services, she lived in Washington, DC and worked in the healthcare consulting industry, mostly on strategy and finance. Outside of work, Elizabeth enjoys spending time with her husband, Trip, their young daughter, and Great Dane puppy. When they’re not at soccer or gymnastics with their daughter, Trip and Elizabeth love traveling to new cities and exploring new restaurants throughout Charlotte.

Sterling joined the Huffman-Powel Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors in 2022 after his graduation from the University of Tennessee. During his time in Knoxville, he began his career in the Wealth Management industry in 2019 where he discovered his passion and creativity for helping clients find accommodating solutions to complex items. Sterling assists clients with account operations, administration, asset movement, and new client onboarding. Sterling is committed to providing the absolute “Client First” experience.

Sterling is a native of Charlotte, North Carolina. Outside of the office, he enjoys being on the water fishing off of the N.C. coast, spending time with his rescued pet rabbit Nico, and cheering on his beloved Tennessee Volunteers.
