John Hanson, CFP

Focus John helps clients who are nearing or in retirement, plan for and realize their goals, objectives and dreams by developing and monitoring investment plans that consider their complete asset base. John promotes investment solutions for family trusts, foundations, and small businesses. John is part of the Clarke-Hanson Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors. Background and experience John has been in the financial services industry for over 40 years. He graduated from Principia College in Elsah, Illinois with a degree in Geology and History. He served in The White House Office of Communications of President Gerald Ford and was subsequently employed as a Vice President/ Controller of d'Amecourt Real Estate, Inc. for four years before joining A.G. Edwards & Sons (later merged into Wells Fargo Advisors) in 1981. John studied and completed his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER certification with the College of Financial Planning, in Denver Colorado in 1985. An Eagle Scout, he has been a volunteer Scout leader for over thirty years, including service as a Scoutmaster, Assistant District Commissioner, District Chairman, and Council Service Area Vice President. He is a past president of the Bethesda-Chevy Chase (BCC) Rotary Foundation. John is also active as a Past-President of the BCC Rotary Club and as a member of the Arch Klumph Society of The Rotary Foundation, working to improve Literacy globally. John has two married children, Heather Hanson-Rivas and Jeremy Hanson-Guteirrez, and four grandchildren. John is active in church and in the community. When not managing the family farm, Mt. Prospect, in Boyds, MD, he enjoys traveling with his wife, Ann.
