It is an understatement to say that John takes planning and risk management seriously. As a Commander in the United States Navy, he logged more than 2,000 flight hours and 620 carrier-arrested landings where he learned that planning is always the priority because real lives are at stake. Today, planning and risk management are the pillars of John’s approach to wealth management, as real livelihoods and futures are at stake.

As a Financial Advisor with over 20 years of experience, John listens to his clients’ needs and their goals for the future. He establishes a collaborative and open dialogue to build trust that is critical to growing meaningful relationships with his clients.

Background & experience

John’s educational background includes earning his BA in geography from the University of Buffalo, Buffalo, NY.

After college, John joined the United Sates Navy where he earned the rank of Commander and flew as a Naval Flight Officer. Throughout his naval career, he earned multiple honors and awards for his service including Meritorious Achievement Medal (Three Awards), Air Medal (2 Strike/Flight Awards), Navy Commendation Medal (Four Awards), Navy Achievement Medal, and Recruiter of the Year at Navy Recruiting District Albany.

Recognizing the importance of helping people create sound wealth plans to address each stage of their life, he began his career as a Financial Advisor. John holds a Master of Science degree in Personal Finance Planning, the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® certification, Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®) designation, plus numerous securities registrations, and insurance licenses. He began his career as a Financial Advisor at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney before joining Wells Fargo Advisors in 2016.

To earn his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®, or CFP® professional certification, John took hundreds of hours of rigorous coursework and examinations to develop his skills in analyzing and developing personal long-term financial strategies, insurance planning and risk management, employee benefits planning, retirement, and estate planning strategies. As a CFP® professional, John must adhere to the CFP® Board's Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility which includes always acting in his clients’ best interest.

Away from the office

John enjoys being active, whether it’s waking up to walk a few miles, kayaking, or biking. His latest activity is learning to fly a glider.

John is an active member and Past President of the Rotary Club of Doylestown, a community service organization. He served on the Board of Directors for the Robert J. Leonard Foundation, an organization that mentors young adults aging out of the foster care system.

She brings her experience and background in finance, analytics, and a keen attention to detail when providing clients with a high level of personalized service.

Background & Experience

Kathryn’s educational background includes earning her undergraduate degree in finance and supply chain management from Lehigh University and her MBA in data analytics from Villanova University. Kathryn worked for an industrial gas company for six years as an analyst while working on her MBA, which focused on gaining insight into the interactions of markets and economies, and the effect of government regulations on those markets.

Kathryn, working as a Financial Advisor with her father, John Ortolf, Senior Financial Advisor,  have built a multi-generational wealth management team. Kathryn embraces the importance of helping the next generation and works to put investment planning strategies in place to address each client’s financial milestones as well as achieve their vision of the future.

Away from the office

In her free time, Kathryn enjoys the outdoors and stays active skiing, hiking, and traveling abroad to experience different cultures. She traveled extensively as part of her MBA program including visits to Santiago, Chile and Buenos Aires, Argentina to learn about their country’s development and how businesses operate in emerging economies.
