Seeking to simplify the financial lives of his clients, John provides more than just investment plans. He strives to be the sole financial information resource for his clients. Building lifelong relationships on a foundation of trust and confidence, John is dedicated to providing individualized quality service, advice and education that will help his clients understand, identify and potentially obtain their individual goals and objectives.
Background and credentials
John has worked as a financial advisor since 1993. He started his career with Merrill Lynch where he was a senior financial advisor and assistant vice president. In March 2003, he established his business, Thompson Wealth Management and Life Planning, Inc. affiliated with Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network, LLC (WFAFN).
John is a graduate of the University of South Alabama with a Bachelor of Science in Finance. He is a member of the Financial Planning Association.
He is currently a board member of the Mobile Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), Christian Business Men’s Connection (CBMC) and the University of South Alabama’s Economic/Finance Department Advisory Board. John is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and has earned the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®), Certified Estate and Trust Specialist (CES®), Certified Fund Specialist (CFS®) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®) designations. John places a strong emphasis on education. He believes in continually honing his knowledge, approach, investment choices, and processes, as well as helping his customers understand their financial choices and the reasoning behind his recommendations. In today’s constantly changing financial services industry, he feels that it is important to stay abreast of new developments and interact with industry experts. That is why you will often find him attending conferences, educational meetings and working on continuing education.
Away from the office
John spends his free time traveling with his wife, Dana, who is a teacher at St. Luke’s School, as well as, visiting with his two adult children, Elizabeth and John Jr. John also enjoys tennis, golf, hunting, and family time when possible. He participates in the community and volunteers his time and resources to local charities and civic groups.
