Celebrating Independence & Reflecting on Freedom

Happy 4th of July to all our friends in the community! This Independence Day, I’ve been reflecting on the freedoms we enjoy, and also thinking about a different kind of independence. Financial independence.

Financial independence doesn’t mean the same thing at every stage of life, and it’s not always about retirement.

For a recent graduate or young professional, it may mean earning that first paycheck to be able to get that first apartment, building healthy habits, and creating options for your career path.

For someone starting a family, it may mean working toward a promotion, buying a first home, balancing competing priorities, and creating stability.

During the prime earning years, it often becomes about growing wealth intentionally, making smart decisions, supporting children as they prepare for their own futures, and protecting what you’ve built.

And later in life, financial independence may look like something entirely different: the freedom to spend your time how you choose, support causes you care about, enjoy retirement with confidence, and think intentionally about the legacy you leave behind.

At every stage, the goal isn’t simply accumulating more, but it’s creating the freedom to live the life you want. At McKinnon Wright Wealth Management, helping people achieve this kind of freedom is the work we live for.

Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Fourth of July!
