Thomas F. Weissenborn
Tom has spent four decades in the financial industry, but if you ask him, he’s still learning something new every day. A self-described lifelong student of the markets, Tom’s curiosity and straightforward approach to investing have made him a trusted advisor to high-net-worth individuals and families.
A Deep-Rooted Passion for Finance
Growing up in Northern New Jersey, Tom was immersed in the finance industry—his father was a wealth advisor and ran an over-the-counter trading desk, while his grandfather owned a brokerage firm in Newark. This exposure to finance shaped Tom’s career path, leading him to earn a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science from the University of Colorado, followed by an MBA in finance and marketing from the University of Arizona.
His professional journey began at EF Hutton, followed by a move to Drexel Burnham Lambert, then to PaineWebber, where he rose to Sales Manager for the Los Angeles market. In 2002, he transitioned to working directly with clients, eventually teaming with Prem Raniga, CFA, AIF, Private Wealth Financial Advisor, Managing Director-Investments. The two moved to Credit Suisse in 2007 before joining Wells Fargo in 2013, where Tom now serves as Managing Director – Investment Officer.
Teaming with Prem Raniga, Tom focuses on investment strategy and client relationships, helping ensure that every portfolio is built with precision and care. While Prem focuses on strategies for tax efficiency, and captive insurance, Tom brings focus on trading, individual stock selection, hedge funds and complex transactions such as options trading.
Together, they take a highly customized approach, crafting tailored wealth planning that evolve alongside their clients’ lives.
Life Outside of Work
Tom and his wife, Mae, enjoy their home in the hills above Hollywood, where Mae spends her time running her own interior design business. Tom is also an avid skier, golfer and former president and treasurer at Wilshire Country Club.
His commitment to philanthropy is just as strong as his passion for finance—he served for 10 years on the board of California’s only all-girls charter school and actively supports causes focused on women’s issues, education and gun violence prevention.
Whether analyzing markets, refining portfolios, or supporting his community, Tom approaches everything with the same philosophy: stay curious, stay engaged and always keep learning.
