Why am I a Financial Advisor?

Hi I’m Rick Rosati, Senior Financial Advisor with Wells Fargo Advisors.

My motivation to master financial success began at a very young age.  My mother and father divorced when I was 3 and I lived with my mother and my 4 siblings; I never forgot how painful it was to watch my mother struggle day to day just to stay afloat.

The collective perception from friends and their parents was that we had plenty of money because my father moved to a nearby town, bought a restaurant and always had the latest luxuries.

In reality my father left my mother with debt, paid no alimony, sometimes not even child support and we lived consistently below the poverty line.

I remember thinking that someday I would master financial success so that neither I nor anybody I cared about would ever have to go through this.

Education

Between my mother stressing the importance of education and my growing up on MN Iron Range in 70’s & 80’s where high double-digit unemployment was the norm I had plenty of motivation to go on to college.

After graduating college during the 1991 recession I took the first job I was offered and stuck with it despite hating it, but after 4 years I realized I had saved enough to pursue a long-term ambition.

I pursued Master of Arts - Economics and Master of Business Administration degrees and became fascinated with financial planning.

For research papers, and for personal enjoyment I read literally one financial planning book after another and quickly realized that I loved sharing what I learned with friends, colleagues -  pretty much anyone that would listen.

Financial Advising

Several years after healing up from college debt the right opportunity to become a financial advisor presented itself and since then I have loved every minute of helping clients succeed financially. There is no other career I would choose.

By the way

When my father passed away a few years ago he left debt and no pension income for his wife despite owning a thriving business and having substantial pension income for 4 decades.

My mother, on the other hand, is enjoying her 20th year in retirement with a six-figure net worth and steady pension income despite having to raise 5 children on her own and never having steady employment until age 55.

This reinforces what my mother told me all along – it’s not as important how much you make, but what you do with it that counts!

Value Proposition

These life experiences, combined with my advanced degrees, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER designation and my demonstrated success and passion in helping clients build, manage, preserve, and transition their wealth and my commitment to excellent service is my value proposition.

Thank you for listening.
