    • Managing Director - Investment Officer

    Focus and experience

I provide personalized investment advisory services to assist my clients in achieving their life goals.  Once we develop a personal relationship founded on trust and candor, we implement a strategy that integrates your resources and plans.

    Background and credentials

For over 20 years I have worked with clients in an effort to simplify the daunting process of investing their money to be able to reach their goals.  I have a wealth of experience in working with clients through uncertain times and helping them to navigate the perils that exist.  Ultimately, we forge an investment plan that makes them comfortable.

My pursuit of a career in the financial world began when I was accepted into the Honors Program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, I earned my Masters of Business Administration from Wake Forest University.  From a beginning with Wachovia Bank in its Capital Markets Group in Charlotte, North Carolina, I became a Financial Advisor with Wachovia Securities which eventually became Wells Fargo Advisors.  While the corporate name over the door may have changed, my commitment to my clients has not.

Together with Michael Sowers, we established Sowers and Webber Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors to better serve our clients.  Since 2006, I have received the firm’s designation of Premier Advisor every year.  I currently hold the Series 7, 31, 63, and 65 as well as Life and Health and Long Term Care.

As a native of Hickory, working in the financial advisory field comes natural to me because my father, David Webber, was a branch manager for the firm and was a guiding influence in my development.  For that, I am very appreciative.

    Away from the office

When not at work, I spend my time with my wife, Lisa, and our sons Jackson, Peter, and Tate.  Active in my community, I have been president of the Catawba County Partnership for Children (Smart Start), was a former board member of the Hickory Rotary Club, the Hickory Jaycees, the Mission Committee at First Presbyterian Church, and the Catawba Science Center, co-chairing the Development Committee.  I have been an Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 231 in Hickory.  Lisa is a former Executive Director of the Rape Crisis Center of Catawba County and is a Session member at First Presbyterian Church.  Finally, Michael and Lisa enjoy still being able to beat their three sons in a game of basketball-at least for now.

The Premier Advisor distinction is held by a select group of Financial Advisors within Wells Fargo Advisors as measured by completion of educational components, business production and professionalism. Additional criteria, including length of service, may also be used to determine recipients.

      Focus and experience

I am dedicated to helping individuals and families meet their financial needs by developing investment plans around their long-term goals and risk tolerance. With over 20 years of experience in the financial service industry, my extensive experience — throughout major shifts in the markets — enables me, along with my team, to help my clients structure balanced portfolios to address their specific financial goals.

      Background and credentials

I began my financial services career as Financial Consultant with Interstate Johnson\Lane in 1992. Through several mergers and acquisitions, my financial practice is now with Wells Fargo Advisors (formerly Wachovia Securities) in Hickory, NC. In 2003, Michael Webber and I joined together as a team to better serve our clients by focusing on each other’s strengths and areas of experience.  We officially formed Sowers & Webber Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors in 2006.  I have a Bachelor degree in Industrial Relations with a concentration in Economics from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In addition to the Series 7, 31, 63, and 65 securities registrations, I have been awarded Premier Advisors recognition for every year beginning in 2006 and named on the Tribute Wall at Wells Fargo Advisors in St. Louis.  In addition to those awards, I regularly attend continuing education events that help me and my team advise our clients.

Committed to helping my community prosper, I am actively involved in several charities within the community either as a volunteer, board member or an advisor.  Boards that I have served are Catawba Science Center, Hickory Landmarks Society, Smart Start, Young Life, Hickory Christian Academy and Hickory Historical Association to name a few.  As a member of Corinth Reformed Church, I have served in various capacities from Chairperson of Deacons, a member of the Executive Committee, and Consistory.

      Away from the office

My wife, Martha, and I have lived in Hickory for over 20 years along with our children, Savannah, Mary Katherine and Will.  We love being involved in their lives whether it is watching them compete athletically, coaching their team sports, helping with their school work or travelling during family vacations.  Family is the most important thing in our lives as well as being involved our church.
