Investment Management Approach

The WHM Group provides unique investment and planning strategies that are logical, process oriented and non-emotional to help clients stay on track in all facets of their financial lives. Clients are guided through each of our simple, straightforward and repeatable processes to ultimately create the clarity, confidence and structure they deserve.

Through many years of experience, we have developed a client-centered, evidence-based process built from current and objective data. Our investment approach is built on philosophies that are both logical and reasonable. These philosophies are value as well as supply and demand. We use a value philosophy to select individual companies and supply and demand to determine asset class positioning.

Our definition of value | Think about the way you shop for clothes or groceries. You look for what’s on a discount or where you can get a deal. We do that same thing when it comes to investing in individual companies. We look to buy good companies at inexpensive prices. We believe that the market is inefficient, and investors’ short-term emotions create opportunities to purchase securities for the long term at prices below their intrinsic/business value. Through the use of a quantitative, repeatable research process, we feel as though we can exploit these opportunities.

Our definition of supply and demand | Economics 101. If there are more buyers than sellers, prices move up. If there are more sellers than buyers, prices move down. This drives prices for groceries, gasoline, housing, sporting event tickets and many other things in the economy. We want to position assets in areas of strength (more buyers than sellers) and avoid areas of weakness (more sellers than buyers). We review the supply and demand relationship of each asset class by ranking the six major asset classes (domestic stocks, international stocks, commodities, currencies, bonds, and cash) from strongest to weakest. We review this ranking on a daily basis and position portfolios in the top two ranked asset classes. Yes, we do view cash as an asset class. This type of approach allows portfolios to adapt to the ever-changing market environment and be positioned for offense or defense.

We believe that the key to successful investing is eliminating the negative influence that human emotion can play, and implementing a disciplined, rules-based investment process. Finally, stick with it! Unfortunately for most, that is easier said than done.

Wealth Management Process

Our planning process allows us to learn our client’s desires and fears. The strategies we create provide the structure necessary for clients to focus on themselves, their families and their personal interests as opposed to the emotional rollercoaster felt when discussing financial matters.

We build relationships with your entire family to help them understand the challenges of investment planning and properly managing inherited wealth. Our team is made up of Financial Advisors spanning several generations. This provides clients with confidence, knowing that we will be able to carry on the legacy they desire and ensure their family will continue to thrive in the future.
