Michael is the President of Verhulst Wealth Management and has been a Financial Advisor since 1991. Prior to the founding of Verhulst Wealth Management, Michael was a Vice President – Wealth Management at UBS Financial Services.
Before entering the Financial Services Industry, Michael was an Independent Bond Trader working at the Chicago Board of Trade. Previously, he worked six years as a Certified Public Accountant with KPMG providing tax and consulting services to privately owned businesses and their owners. He no longer offers these services.
As a PIM Portfolio Manager in the Wells Fargo Advisors Private Investment Management (PIM) Program, Michael offers personalized, discretionary investment management. In PIM Program, Michael assists his clients with the investment process: evaluating client needs and objectives, determining suitability for the program and the proposed investment strategy, managing client’s assets, measuring performance, and evaluating investment results.
As a Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist CRPS®, Michael works with Corporate Retirement Plan Sponsors, helping them in the evaluation process of their plans including investment performance and fee benchmarking. Also, Michael works with Plan Sponsors to develop and deliver participant communication programs tailored to their unique needs.
Michael holds a BA, Public Accounting, from Loyola University of Chicago. Michael is also a Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist.
Michael lives in Arlington Heights with his wife. His wife, Cheryl, is Director of First Impressions at OHi (Our Home Improvement). His daughter, Brittany, is an Account Executive for Qualtrics in Dallas, Texas. His son, Ryan, attends Illinois Wesleyan University (IWU) and plays basketball. Other interests include The Bridge Community Church, IWU basketball, Baylor University sports, the NBA and salt water aquarium.
