My Investment Philosophy

  • There are no one off investments, every aspect of a client’s financial profile informs the suitability of everything else, and any recommendations should support and compliment the entire client portfolio

  • Investments should be person-centric rather than product centric. I prefer to have a clear picture of the person and their goals and to make my recommendations off that individual’s desires, concerns, goals, and preferences rather than relying on generalized solutions.

  • A person’s goals should inform their investments and not the other way around. To ensure that investments are being matched to goals ongoing Investment planning is always ideal and encouraged.

  • A good investment portfolio should seek to take advantage of true diversification by investing in market linked investments, managed futures, options, commodities, stocks, and bonds depending on a client’s experience, risk tolerance, and comfort with alternative or complex investments. A good advisor will take the time to explain them and answer all questions in an effort to ensure a client can take advantage of them when appropriate for their situation.

  • Account types are as important a part of a client’s investment profile as the investments themselves and taking full advantage of retirement, charitable, or personal brokerage accounts and the various advantages of each is an important part of my investment management philosophy.

  • Investments should be tax conscious but not tax driven. While taxes are always an important consideration, we don’t want a desire to avoid taxes entirely to cause us to miss out on better overall gains. Nonetheless, accounting for taxes via advanced investment planning so that the recognition of taxes is deliberate and utilizing tax advantaged strategies and investments is a critical component of my investment philosophy.
