A Financial Advisor who has earned the CFP® designation has demonstrated skill in analyzing and developing personal, long-term financial strategies. A CFP® professional has completed hundreds of hours of rigorous courses and examinations offered by various colleges and universities across the country. These courses are then followed by a 10-hour comprehensive examination administered according to the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards. The qualification process, comprehensive array of advice, and skill-based approach distinguish CFP® practitioners from other professional advisors, who typically focus on only one area of a client’s financial life.

The Chartered Retirement Plans SpecialistSM (CRPS®) designation enables financial advisors and other professionals to demonstrate their expertise in administering retirement plans for businesses and wholesale clients. It is offered exclusively by the College for Financial Planning®—a Kaplan Company (CFFP).

To earn this certification, a Financial Advisor must successfully complete an online, closed-book final exam offered through the College for Financial Planning®. This training program includes an online self-study CRPS course and exam to be completed within 120 days of receiving program access and 16 hours of continuing education requirements every two years.
