Our team is comprised of diverse talents and backgrounds. But what unites us is our shared conviction that every day presents an opportunity to make a difference — inside our office and out in our community.

Here’s how we each strive to improve the lives of others.

kate schoffKate volunteers at organizations devoted to providing workforce training for individuals facing employment barriers, such as homelessness and other life challenges.

Current Roles:

  • Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County – Board of Directors, Chair of the Development Committee

  • The Annapolis Lighthouse – Board of Directors, Co-Chair of the Development Committee
  • Homeless Prevention Center – Co-Chair Development Committee

John CahillJohn has been a staple of the Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department for the past 20 years — more than half of his life. What started as a way to fulfill his community involvement hours during high school has evolved into a fulfilling lifetime membership, complete with multiple certifications along the way:

  • Fire Fighter I
  • Fire Fighter II
  • Firefighter Survival and Rescue
  • Aerial Apparatus Operator
  • Emergency Vehicle Operator
  • Truck Company Operations
  • Rescue Technician – Vehicle and Machinery Extrication
  • Hazardous Materials Operations
In addition to responding to emergency situations, he is currently serving on the Board of Directors and has served as Treasurer for the same organization.

Tres HughesTres holds a soft spot for the underserved and underprivileged. For him, volunteering is an outlet in his perpetual mission to improve the lives of those he encounters, client and stranger alike.

Previous Efforts Include:

Rashmi DhankbarEmpathy is genetic in Rashmi’s family. Her son frequently volunteers at a local food shelter — a trait inspired by Rashmi’s giving nature.

Current Involvement:

  • Manna Food Center
  • Dufief Elementary School

“I cherish volunteering with my children. I get to spend time with them and teach them to be selfless. It’s a win-win way to make a difference.”

Bridget CattertonSince Bridget advocates financial literacy for everyone, it comes as no surprise that she teaches students these valuable life skills through her involvement in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (S.T.E.M) program. She also gives her time and expertise to students of all ages by conducting mock interviews for roles within the financial industry.

Current Involvement:

  • Anne Arundel County School District
  • North County High School
  • Wreaths Across America (to honor many of her family)
  • Annapolis Lighthouse Shelter

Elizabeth GetzElizabeth displays the same nurturing and patient demeanor our clients appreciate out in the community on a regular basis.

Current Involvement Includes:

  • Relay for Life participant
  • Vacation Bible Study volunteer for St. Paul’s Lutheran Church
  • Little Sprouts Daycare volunteer

Mary Ann RileyMary Ann has a track record of donating her time and talents to causes that help save lives and provide valuable information to the community.

Current Involvement Includes:

  • Volunteer for Sink or Swim (SOS) — an organization that has taught more than 9,000 local children to swim in or around the Chesapeake Bay.
  • Eastport Civic Association (ECA) – Board Book and Newsletter support

Past Involvement Includes:

  • ECA Secretary
  • ECA Board Member

Carisma SlaughterCarisma values her family and faith just as much as she cherishes helping our clients. Giving back is simply an extension of her bubbly and optimistic personality.

Current Involvement Includes:

  • Community outreach for My Sister’s Place
  • Roaring Run Concession Lion’s Club
  • Renewed Mind Worship Center
  • Chaperoning school field trips
