Have You Ever Built a Kid's Toy?
It typically comes with a lengthy instruction manual. Now, the details in this manual are vital, especially if you want the drawbridge to open or the wheels to roll. But arguably, the most important part is the picture on the front of the box. It’s the picture that quickly lets you know if you're on the right track.
We Use a Similar Approach.
In order to help clients enjoy their retirement, I need to understand various details about their financial situation. It allows me to develop a detailed manual for them that I refer to collectively as their retirement plan. In this manual, I incorporate their retirement goals along with investment planning, tax strategies, estate planning, charitable and community giving, and retirement income planning into one cohesive manual.
My mission though is to help my clients live and enjoy a thriving retirement - and not spend time reading lengthy financial projections.
This detailed manual is mostly for me to help track all of the necessary details. For my clients, I provide them with a 'Picture on the Box'. It’s a short summary report that highlights the key components of their retirement plan and shows if their plan is still on track, or if any adjustments need to be made. It also provides a snapshot of their portfolio’s investment performance, their overall asset allocation, and their net worth. I can send this to them in a moment’s notice. This report is especially helpful when clients have an unexpected life event and need to have a conversation NOW about what the challenge means to them - and the options they may have for getting their retirement back on track.
