Focus
As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, I have been helping clients align their financial decisions with the rest of their life for over two decades. I believe that stewardship requires a dedication to fully understand what’s important to clients and then creating and maintaining a tailored plan and investment strategy that integrates their values, their vision and their wealth.
Background & experience
I was raised on a family farm in northern Idaho. A portion of the farmland was homesteaded by my grandfather in 1906 and a portion was homesteaded by his father-in-law (my great grandfather) in the 1870s. So, I was the 3rd, and on a portion, the 4th generation to care for the land. Stewardship for the land’s sustainability was inherent part of daily life and instilled the principle of doing what is right, not what is easy.
Growing up on a farm, I learned several important lessons that I bring to my role as a Financial Advisor. First, I take a long-term perspective and anticipate how each action impact’s the future. Next, I respect the natural process, recognizing that there are no short cuts to success. Third, nothing is certain so I anticipate and make plans to address potential risks. Finally, helping others is a core tenant of my focus as a Financial Advisor as I help my clients achieve their goals.
These lessons are the basis for many of the principles that guide my personal and profession life today. I consider myself not just an advisor, but a steward of my client’s financial lives.
Away from the office
My commitment to service carries over to involvement with the local community where I serve on the Board of Directors for Betty's Dream, a Foundation for the Physically Handicapped.
I spend my free time with my wife, Lois, a hypnotherapist and success coach. We have four adult children, all engaged in their own professional careers. We like to stay active both physically and mentally – when we aren't working in our gardens under the watchful eyes of their two tuxedo cats, we enjoy dancing traditional ballroom and Argentine Tango.
