Meet our team

Joe Bombard has built his career in financial services by putting his clients’ interests first and providing exceptional personal service. His more than 40 years in the financial industry have taught him how to advise his clients throughout various stock and bond market cycles, helping them understand the risks and rewards of investing. 

Joe and his team boast 75+ years of combined financial services experience, delivering personalized investment planning services their clients deserve. In recognition of Joe’s commitment to his clients, he has been recognized by Wells Fargo Advisors as a Premier Advisor between 2006-2022.*

The Central New York community has been home to Joe and his family their entire lives. He and his wife, Sue, both grew up in the city of Syracuse and presently live in Jamesville. Joe and Sue have three children and four grandchildren and truly believe that CNY is a wonderful place to live and raise a family.

Active in the local community, Joe participates in several civic and community organizations. He is the Finance Committee Chairman at Immaculate Conception Church in Fayetteville and is a board member of Sisters of St. Francis.

Joe earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting at Le Moyne College in Syracuse, and he continues to support his alma mater. Not long after graduating, he began his career in the financial services industry at E.F. Hutton in downtown Syracuse. In 1990, Joe joined Prudential-Bache Securities, which through a series of mergers, is now Wells Fargo Advisors. 

When not in his downtown Syracuse office, or with clients, you are likely to find Joe golfing at Calvary Golf Club, where he and his family are members. He has long been an avid golfer and plays in many tournaments throughout the year. Although he thoroughly enjoys Central New York, he spends time in the winter months at his second home in Hilton Head, SC, where the weather doesn’t interfere with his time on the course.

For over 33 years, John has served the needs of his clients. By combining a disciplined approach to money management with tailored investment planning advice, John plays a key role in helping clients achieve their financial goals. In addition, he works with other professionals, such as accountants and attorneys, to help design and implement the strategies that prepare clients for important financial events in their lives. 

John began his career as a financial advisor at Merrill Lynch & Company. In 1992, he moved his practice to Prudential Securities, a predecessor firm of Wells Fargo Advisors. 

While at Prudential, John combined forces with Joe Bombard, Managing Director – Investments, to create the Bombard-Cavanaugh Financial Group. John believes in delivering the highest quality service and a broader array of products for his clients to meet each specialized need. In fact, to honor his service to his client, John has been recognized by Wells Fargo Advisors as a Premier Advisor between 2020-2022.*

John earned his bachelor’s degree from Hamilton College. He was a collegiate basketball player, and upon graduation, he pursued opportunities to play overseas. Injury shortened his first season in England, and he chose to come home to Central New York area and pursue a career in the financial services profession. 

John, his wife Marie, and their three children currently live in DeWitt, NY. The children have inherited John’s passion for sports – his son, Tyler, has completed a successful career at George Washington University in Washington D.C. in 2017 and is now playing professionally, and his daughter, Kayleigh, also completed a successful college basketball career at SUNY Geneseo in New York and graduated in 2017. John’s youngest daughter, Julia, is a graduate of Nazareth College in Rochester, NY, where she played volleyball. During the summers, his family enjoys boating and skiing at their camp in Chaumont Bay, approximately one hour north of Syracuse. 

Outside of the office, you will occasionally find John on the golf course attempting to improve his game. John and his family are also actively involved in the parish of Immaculate Conception Church in Fayetteville, NY.

Marti Cacciola brings more than 30 years of financial experience to the Bombard-Cavanaugh Financial Group of Wells Fargo Advisors. Her organizational skills and the trust earned from clients make her a valued member of the team.

Marti began her financial services career at Marine Midland Bank in 1986 and developed her brokerage business specialization a year later at E.F. Hutton, now known as Morgan Stanley – Smith Barney. 

Marti’s primary responsibility is to maintain a professional and organized environment that keeps the day-to-day office operations running smoothly. She helps ensure that clients’ administrative, trading, and operational needs are handled accurately and quickly. She oversees the administration of accounts, including opening new accounts, updating existing account information, managing account transfers, and answering questions regarding statements. 

Along with her husband, Scott, and their two children, Nick and Elizabeth, Marti lives in Baldwinsville, NY. She can be seen in many places around CNY, attending activities of her very athletic family. In her free time, Marti is an avid fitness buff!

Her daughter, Elizabeth, received her bachelor’s degree at SUNY Geneseo in Spanish Education and earned her teacher’s certification. She then went on to earn a Master’s of English as a Second Language (ESL) from Nazareth College. Elizabeth is now a Spanish teacher in Rochester, NY. Marti’s son, Nick, graduated from St. John Fisher College and is now working for ADP.

Jon Catlin believes that the most important factor in a successful client relationship is having a comprehensive plan. Rather than simply chasing returns, Jon works with clients to determine the best plan of action to meet the goals that they collaboratively define. In crafting comprehensive plans, he commonly addresses financial facets such as retirement, retirement income planning, insurance, education funding, and investment management. Jon is also committed to working with his clients’ other trusted professionals, including their CPAs and attorneys, on tax and estate planning strategies. 

Many of Jon’s clients opt for an advisory relationship, meaning they choose to have their portfolios professionally managed. With advisory programs, an annual fee replaces traditional commissions, which means that, when a client’s account grows, Jon also does better. These types of portfolios can include individual stocks and bonds, mutual funds, ETFs, and separately managed accounts. 

Jon earned his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University, where he double majored in economics and international relations. He has also earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner designation from the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. 

Today, Jon resides in Central Square, NY, with his wife, Katie, who is an HR professional, and their children, Mara and Michael. Jon has converted his entire family into avid MSU fans, and they enjoy cheering on the Spartans in football and basketball. They also like to maintain an active lifestyle and particularly enjoy hiking in the Adirondacks or golfing at their local club.

Kristin brings more than 10 years of experience to the Inner Harbor Wealth Mangement Group of Wells Fargo Advisors.   She works closely with Martha Cacciola maintaining a seamless relationship to provide superior service for our clients.  Kris’s primary responsibility is helping the team in any capacity needed, whether it is communication with clients, correspondence, marketing, expenses, submitting grants for sponsorships, or everyday maintenance of client accounts. 

Kris graduated from the University of Vermont with a degree in Recreational Management.  She played 4 years of Division 1 Basketball while at UVM.  After graduation she worked at Howard Johnson Hotel and Suites in Burlington, VT.   She started at the Front Desk then worked her way up to Assistant Manager.

Kris along with her husband, Keith, have three children, Kate, Brian and Matthew.  Kate received her bachelor’s degree at Hamilton College in Psychology and Women’s Studies.  She also received her Master’s in the Art of Teaching at Relay GSE in NY, NY.   Kate is currently the Director of Operations at Highbridge Dream Charter School in the Bronx.

Brian received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Trinity College in Computer Science, Math, and Theater.  He currently works for Orca Bio as a Senior Software Engineer and Project Lead.

Matthew will be graduating from St John Fisher University in the Spring with a Degree in Nursing.  He will be focusing his nursing skills on Psychology.

Kris is involved in the Community volunteering for Jail Ministry and the Samaritan Center. Her passion is playing pickleball, her dog Chloe, watching sports and spending time with her family.
