Jim Ratchford

    • Managing Director - Investments
I am a Managing Director – Investments at Wells Fargo Advisors in Charlotte with over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry.

Growing up, my family instilled in me the value of serving others. From this, I knew I wanted to work in a career in which I could help others, and combined with my educational background, being a financial advisor was a great fit for me. I enjoy the relationships I get to build in my role and I’m humbled to be the one my clients turn to as they face life’s many expected and unexpected changes.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Wake Forest University.

I grew up in Charlotte and call it home to this day. My wife, Denise, and I have three boys, Walker, Silas, and AJ. Outside of work, I enjoy working out, riding my mountain bike, and playing golf and tennis. As a family, we have always enjoyed being involved in trying to make our community a better place. We are members of Westminster Presbyterian Church and have been active members for almost 30 years. In addition, I sit on the Board of Trustees at Providence Day School, and I am also a partner at Social Venture Partners.

In my role, I enjoy simplifying the complexities of the investment planning process for my clients. It’s a privilege to walk alongside my clients through life changes and challenging markets and help them remain focused and aligned with their financial goals.

I graduated from Belmont Abbey College as a business major with a minor in economics, and was a collegiate athlete on their men’s tennis team.

I am a North Carolina native who has called the Cotswold area of Charlotte home since 2002. Away from the office, I live an active lifestyle and stay deeply involved in my community and New City Church of Charlotte. Running, playing tennis, coaching my son’s sports teams, and attending my daughter’s theater performances keeps me busy.
