Steve began his career in banking and capital markets rising to Senior Vice President of a U.S. money center bank. He later became Treasurer of the New York branch of a European bank. Steve entered the private wealth management arena and joined with Brian McGuinness in 1999 to form The Jeffers McGuinness Group.
Steve is a portfolio manager in the Portfolio Investment Management (PIM) program. He coordinates the team’s mutual fund and separately managed accounts activity. Steve is also a Chartered Retirement Plan Specialist℠ (CRPS®), directing the group’s retirement planning business including managing client 401(k) plans. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Economics from Long Island University.
Steve’s personal interests and achievements have included working with Habitat for Humanity, serving over two decades with a community non-profit and raising funds for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Additionally, he has run the New York City Marathon, climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro and is an accomplished guitar player. Steve enjoys traveling and is an avid reader of history. Steve and his wife reside in Short Hills, New Jersey.

Brian is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional with over 30 years of Wall Street experience. He began his career as a corporate bond trader. In 1999, Steve and Brian joined their practices to form the Jeffers McGuinness Group.
Brian is Portfolio Manager in the Wells Fargo Advisors Portfolio Investment Management (PIM) program. His responsibilities include asset allocation, investment selection and trading in the group’s individually customized investment strategies. In addition, Brian coordinates the wealth management efforts. His areas of expertise include life insurance and variable annuities.
Brian is a graduate of Lehigh University. He resides in Lloyd Harbor, NY, with his family.
Away from the office, Brian enjoys tennis and skiing, playing bass guitar and is an avid motorcycle and sports car enthusiast. He is a long-time Director and Officer of his local community board. He actively supports and raises money for the Long Island food bank and is active with the Volunteers of America.
