Nearing Retirement – Unsure About the Future

Description

A man and his wife were concerned about maintaining their same income level, affording health insurance coverage until Medicare, and taking their dream vacation.

Our Strategies

We initiated our wealth management process with the coworker by conducting a discovery meeting to evaluate their current situation and discuss their needs and goals in retirement. We developed an eMoney plan based on our discussion in the discovery meeting. His personalized plan projected that he and his wife could receive more income in retirement than their current take-home pay. We showed him the expenses for health insurance between the ages of 62 and 65, and we presented an additional annual travel budget for the next 10 years.

Recently Lost My Spouse – Completely Overwhelmed

Description

A woman was in need of help after her husband – who had always managed their financial lives on his own – passed away. She felt overwhelmed with the burden of taking control of her finances.

Our Strategies

We started a thorough discovery process with her to help gather all the information of her financial life, including her monthly expenses, needs, and wishes for the future. Immediately, we helped her sort through paperwork from probate and other statements and forms she was receiving after her husband’s death. We also helped her consolidate her assets, thereby eliminating dozens of statements she was receiving on a monthly basis. We then developed an eMoney plan based specifically on her circumstances and needs. She learned how to plan and manage her finances.

Wealth Transfer – Not Sure What To Do Now

Description

An individual received a large inheritance after his parents passed away. Because his parents had worked for their entire lives, he wanted to make sure that he properly handled this inheritance, but he was worried about making a mistake that would ultimately hurt his taxes. He also shared that he had some credit card debt with a high interest rate. Despite his uncertainty, he viewed this as an opportunity to organize his personal finances and create a plan towards retirement.

Our Strategies

After engaging a deep discovery process to gather the necessary information on this man’s financial life as well as his needs and wishes for the future, we developed an eMoney plan to organize the various assets and to provide a game plan. We advised him to pay down the high interest credit card first-and-foremost. We then worked with his accountant to determine the best course of action for a cohesive plan. Our objective was to help minimize the tax burdens of the inheritance while addressing his short-term needs and long-term growth goals. We presented a thorough investment recommendation that satisfied these objectives and were in line with the individual’s wishes and needs.
