For as easy-going as he is, Matt defies easy characterization. For instance, he’s a “left-brain” dominant person, in that he’s always excelled at math, and so it makes perfect sense that he pursued a career in the financial world. But meet him, and within moments, you’ll see that his warm, welcoming personality is anything but calculating.
And when it comes to how he cares for his clients, it’s the emotional sensitivity and the sincerity he extends to them on a personal level that makes him such a trustworthy steward of their financial future. It’s evident immediately in how he talks to — and about — the people and families he serves.
Person to Person is More Than an Equation
After graduating from Mizzou (go Tigers!) with his degree in Business Administration, Matt went on to earn his MBA at the University of Missouri – St. Louis before joining Scottrade as a Senior Market Analyst. Though he excelled at analyzing market data and providing actionable insights for his team, he felt something was missing. That missing element came into focus when he started to confide in his older brother, Bob, who, with an eight-year head start was already a successful financial advisor. That’s how, in early 2016, Matt accepted an opportunity to join Wells Fargo Advisors as a Financial Advisor. And after making the switch, he never looked back. In fact, having the privilege of earning his client’s trust and helping them and their families by providing strategic, clear-eyed advice makes Matt wish he’d joined years earlier. He knows he’s exactly where he was meant to be.
There’s a Mission Outside the Office, too
Matt has been married to his wife, Emily, for ten years, and they have two daughters, Adeline and Clara. It’s fitting that Emily is a Registered Nurse (Heart Transplant Coordinator) because the whole family dedicates themselves to service, personally and professionally. Matt has supported and served on the boards of organizations close to his heart, including the Loyal Academy, Boys Hope Girls Hope, Saint Louis University High (his alma mater), St. Gabriel the Archangel School, and as an advocate and spokesperson for the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation). He also lives ten houses down the street from his brother in the close-knit Hill neighborhood of St. Louis. And fittingly for the profession they now share, even that relationship has a number involved: 1.5 — the strokes by which his golf handicap beats Bob’s.
It’s a brother thing.
